Junior Research Grant:

1)  Zaid Mammo (University of British Columbia)
– Evaluating the effects of retinopathy of prematurity on perifoveal circulation using non-invasive angiography
2)  Salima Hassanaly (Universite de Montreal)
– Ocular phenotype of subjects with a loss of function proprotein convertase subtilisin/Kexin type 9 variant

Senior Research Grant:

1)  Flavio Rezende (Universite de Montreal)
– Intraocular concentrations of Semaphorin 3A in patients with diabetic macular edema treated with anti-VEGF
2)  Shelley Spurr (University of Saskatchewan)
– Caring For Kids Where They Live: Using Technology to Prevent Vision Loss in Northern Aboriginal Youth

Can a Retinal Examination Provide Clues to a Person’s Risk of Stroke?

Learning objectives:

  • To provide an update on recent studies on the epidemiology of retinal microvascular signs
  • To discuss the relationship of retinal microvascular signs with risk of stroke, stroke subtypes and other cerebrovascular diseases
  • To discuss the potential application of retinal imaging for clinical prediction of stroke
